Glyphosate transgenic (modified genetic code) soybean (herbicide) was approved in Brazil in 1999 and made it the first transgenic cultivation followed in the country.

Brazilian 86,4% soybean exporter

Soybean exports from Brazil in 2019 will reach 72 million tons, stable from the forecast released in August, according to the Brazilian Vegetable Oil Industries Association (Abiove).

Maintaining the monthly estimate indicates a 13.5% drop from the record set in 2018, when the country exported 83.26 million tons, benefiting from strong demand from China amid the trade war with the United States, according to with data from the association that brings together the main tradings in the sector.
